    WELCOME TO PARENT'S CORNER

Being a Good Soccer Parent

  • Encourage your child, regardless of his or her degree of success or level of skill.
  • Ensure a balance in your student athlete’s life, encouraging participationin multiple sports and activities while placing academics first.
  • Emphasize enjoyment, development of skills and team play as the cornerstones of your child’s early sports experiences.
  • Leave coaching to coaches and avoid placing too much pressure on your youngster about playing time and performance.
  • Be realistic about your child’s future in sports, recognizing that only a select few earn a college scholarship, compete in the Olympics or sign a professional contract.
  • Be there when your child looks to the sidelines for a positive role model.

 What Does My Player Need?

  2. SOCCER SHOES -Recommended, but not required by most clubs. Soccer cleats for most recreational play must be rubber or molded plastic (no metal cleats), and no less than 3/8 inch in diameter. Baseball or football type shoes withsquare or rectangular cleats are not legal for soccer.
  3. WATER BOTTLE (with child's name on it) -Fresh water should be available to your child at each practice and game.
  4. REMOVE JEWELRY - Jewelry and other potentially dangerous metal objects,  must be removed (medical alert and religious jewelry are allowed if determined to be safe).

We recommend that ever player has a soccer ball available for use at home.
What size ball do they need?

  • Weather can be unpredictable. Be prepared by bringing items such as sunscreen, rain jackets, and blankets (referees/league officials will determine whether or not a game should be called off due to poor weather conditions).
  • Proper hydration is key to a good game. Be sure to bring plenty of water for kids to drink both before and after their practices and games. Healthy snacks like orange wedges, grapes and sports drinks are also good for replenishing nutrients after strenuous activity.
  • Get to the soccer field early. Players need adequate time to warm up and stretch before practice or game time.
  • Always leave the field cleaner than when you! This is for both training and games! If that means picking up someone elses trash – just do it! We are blessed with some great fields and want to make sure that we are good guests.
